Lazy Sunday, March 7th,
Avanti Village.
With the assistance of Ian Calver, I have arranged that we can display our cars
in the pedestrianised precinct around which the Avanti Village
shops are arranged. Ian will happily give club members 20% discount on
purchases from his shop, and Ocean Basket has agreed to give
club members a discount on lunch, on the day (rate to be confirmed, but will
likely depend on numbers). Suggested arrival time is between 10-11 am,
which should a) let many of us have a nice lie-in, in keeping with the theme;
and b) allow time for cars to be positioned before we all adjourn for lunch.
Notice I've chosen somewhere with a restaurant on-site, so you don't even have
to make up a picnic! Truly a Lazy Sunday...
Avanti Village is on Poseidonos Avenue, Kato Paphos, on the left if you're
coming from The Triangle as most of us will. Turn in at the sign for the car
park and use the pedestrian route from the car park into the complex. Ian and I
will have markers laid out. If anyone showing a car wishes to convoy with my
Capri from the Kili/Tsada/Tala/Kamares area, please feel free to email me.
If you wish to come in your "modern" instead of your "classic" you will be
assured of a warm welcome, but please do not park in the exhibition area as we
will only have space for 12-15 cars. There is a dedicated car park for the
complex, which will be our entrance point.
Ian Calver recently gave a presentation to the club about model cars, especially
Corgi Vanguards. He has a keen interest, as he is restoring a 1971 Ford Cortina
here in Paphos. He has been instrumental in setting up this event, and with his
help we could make it something annual. In order to do that we need to support
it ourselves first, so let's polish up that chrome and dazzle the onlookers in
March!
