Social Meeting held in the Paphos Gardens
Hotel 15 Nov 2008
With 56 members
present
The meeting was opened by Ian
Dunbar, (Chairman, MGB Roadster) in a rather chaotic manner due
to the management misunderstanding the numbers attending.
Several members later complained that it was not good enough and
the new committee would need to address the matter with the
management. The Chairman then explained that over the years the
club had used several venues and this was by far the best so
far, and perhaps this was just a one off.
He then invited Lindsay
Smith (Fiat 500) to outline the details for the forthcoming
Poker Run on the 23rd Nov. Lindsay asked if all
navigators could start taking cameras as he wishes to run a
photographic competition in the New Year. More details to follow
later.
Ray Walker (Lotus
Espirit) suggested that we as a club were not using our vehicles
enough. The Chairman agreed and explained that the committee
were there to assist in any way possible in organizing events
but it was up to the members to come forward with ideas. If
necessary they could be co-opted on to the committee for the
duration of the event but they would have no voting rights at
committee meetings.
Peter Howard (Triumph
Stag) was then invited, having taken over the management of the
Web Site, to explain to members how he was progressing. It was
stressed that hopefully the site would become the focal point
for all members to access, for any information relating to the
club activities. It was hoped that in due course all members
would have a password to a secure area of the site where
member’s details would be published. Any member not wishing to
have their details published on the site would need to inform
him accordingly.
Peter Neighbour (Austin
7) said he had been approached about the possibility of a static
display for a local event next spring. The Chairman stressed
that this was exactly the sort of venues that the Club could
become involved in. Peter said he would provide more details at
a later date. Wendy Hart (Secretary) collected nominations for
the forthcoming AGM on the 13th December.
Danne Johnstone once
again provided an interesting general knowledge quiz, which
certainly had a few members scratching their head
The Chairman finally
closed the meeting stressing that this was his last social
event.
Peter Howard then
proposed a huge thank you to Ian from all members for his
long tenure as Chairman.
